The field of Reproductive Endocrinology is rapidly progressing, requiring constant upgrading and updating of the practitioner's skills and knowledge. In this respect, our Consultant Specialists and Embryologists regularly participate and contribute in local and international scientific seminars and conferences, to keep abreast with the latest technology and development. The Centre is founded and headed by a Gynaecologist Dato' Dr. Colin Lee who was in the team in Singapore (1988 - 1992) at the time it produced the world's first Micro-manipulation (SUZI) baby and the world's first Human Co-culture Blastocyst IVF baby. Dato' Dr. Colin Lee is also a local pioneer in the practice of laparoscopic surgery, especially in the laparoscopic management of pelvic conditions causing infertility. Our doctors have performed more than 3600 laparoscopies, mostly in patients with infertility and have presented Malaysia's biggest series of gynaecological laparoscopic surgeries (1,408 cases). In addition to Dato' Dr. Colin Lee, the Centre has six other gynaecologists who also manage patients with infertility and other general Obstetrics and Gynaecological conditions. Our doctors also act as International Advisor for the 3rd Conference of the Pacific Rim Society for Fertility and Sterility 2002, advisor for the 1st Global Chinese Conference On Reproductive Medicine 2002, and as an advisory committee member of Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproductive Endocrinology (ASPIRE)]. Our doctors are responsible for producing the majority of the country's IVF babies, Frozen-Embryo babies and Egg-Donation babies. They have to date produced more than 3000 test-tube babies, representing about 1/3 of all test tube babies ever produced in Malaysia.
