LAPAROSCOPIC / HYSTEROSCOPIC (KEY-HOLE) SURGERY

Laparoscopy uses a minimally invasive technique to assess pelvic conditions such as endometriosis, ovarian cysts and tubal disease that may cause infertility. Hysteroroscopy involves inserting a mini telescope into the uterus through the vagina and cervix to look for intra-uterine abnormalities: fibroids, intra-uterine septae and polypi.

Patients who have amendable conditions found at laparascopy / hysteroscopy will have these conditions treated under the same anasthesia. This often results in subsequent spontaneous pregnancy and may obviate the need for subsequent Assisted Reproductive Procedures. Patients who still need Assisted Reproductive Procedures would have had their pelvis and uterus optimised during lapraroscopy/hysteroscopy so as to maximise their chances of pregnancy.

TMC Fertility Centre presented Malaysia's biggest series of gynaecological laparoscopic surgeries (1,408 cases) at the O&G Society of Malaysia Annual Congress in June 2002. This series demonstrated that laparoscopic surgery for a wide range of gynaecologic and fertility conditions at varying levels of complexity have been done safely and successfully by our doctors.

"...our advanced laparoscopy maximizes patients for pregnancy either spontaneously or, failing that, maximizes their chance of pregnancy following assisted procedures"
